"Welcome"2020

2020. On the theme of ‘Soviet terror’.

The works were installed in two locations: The Museum of Local Lore and the Armenian Church of the Holy Apostles Peter and Paul (the church has been functioning intermittently during the Soviet rule in Bukovyna).

It was in these places that in 1944 cruel actions against the Chernivtsi community of that time took place, such as violations of the right to freedom of religion and belief, persecution, wiretapping, abuse, and murder. The closure of the Armenian Church by the Soviet authorities to create a bomb shelter.

The idea of the project was to create two large paintings measuring 3×2 metres 60x90cm and a series of linocuts 60x40cm (sketches for installations) using carpets.

The exhibition was opened at the Dzyga gallery curated by Vlodko Kaufman and Tetiana Biletska
